Gilmerton Child and Family Centre

Gilmerton Child and Family Centre is located in the South East area of Edinburgh. It is purpose built and was opened in 1964. It is part of the City of Edinburgh Councils, Children and Families Department.

The Centre is located on a main road and serves a broad social inclusion partnership area.

The Centre is a low rise building with an enclosed garden area and outside storage shed. The Centre has four playrooms to accommodate children aged 0-5. There is also a large kitchen area and separate laundry. The outside area is on two levels, one area is with slabbing which is used for toys including bikes, scooters, sand, water play etc. The other area has soft surfacing and sited climbing frame equipment and chutes.

The Centre operates a staffing ratio of 1:5 children in the 2-5 age group and a ratio of 1:3 in the 0-2 age group.
